Sculpted leather, gold and light

Jorge Centofanti (b. 1944, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine-born artist whose work reinterprets the historic craft of guadamecí through a contemporary lens. Trained in Paris and based in Europe since the late 1960s, he has developed a distinctive practice that transforms leather into sculptural surfaces of light, relief and gold.

His work has been exhibited internationally and includes major commissions such as the Northampton Coat of Arms, unveiled by HM Queen Elizabeth II. His works are held in museum collections and private collections worldwide, including Cartier in Paris. He currently lives and works in the south of France.
